Five years, then it becomes a Wevar: the maturity rule explained
Immature Added-Value is usage value. Mature Added-Value is a backed unit. The rule that turns one into the other is a date.
The five-year rule is the part of the system people ask about most, because it is the part that decides what a balance is really worth.
The rule
A Wevar Added-Value becomes mature five years after the date it is granted. On that date it converts automatically into a Wevar — a unit covered by its euro or dollar equivalent depending on the account's reference currency. No action is required from the member.
Verified fact: this is stated in Part I article 10.3 and Part VII section A bis of the WEVONE terms.
Why a delay exists
Backing value costs money at the moment the backing is created. A platform can either grant very little fully backed value, or grant meaningful usage value and build the backing over time. WEVONE chose the second path and wrote the timetable into the terms rather than leaving it implicit.
Objective, not a fact: that the backing is built steadily as the platform's activity grows.
What to watch, as a member
- Your maturity dates. Each granted batch has its own; they are listed in your Wevars area.
- Your seller setting. Accepting up to 100% Added-Value means more of what you receive is on the five-year clock. Capping at 30% means more of it is backed immediately.
- Account closure. Immature Added-Value is lost if the account is closed, unless a mandatory legal provision says otherwise. Wevars follow the ordinary withdrawal rules.
A deliberate asymmetry
Immature Added-Value circulates; it does not exit. That asymmetry is what makes it useful inside the platform and honest outside it. Presenting it as cash would be the dishonest version of the same product.
FAQ
Does maturity change the amount?
No. One Added-Value unit becomes one Wevar. The nature changes, not the quantity.
Do I need to claim it?
No. Conversion is automatic on the maturity date.
Can maturity be shortened?
Nothing in the current terms provides for it. Any change would be a change of terms, notified in advance.
